Prime Minister receives Iranian President in official ceremony at Baghdad International Airport
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian today, Wednesday, in an official ceremony at Baghdad International Airport. The Prime Minister`s media office stated in a statement that "the Prime Minister received the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, at the beginning of the Iranian President`s first official foreign visit after assuming his duties last July, where an official reception ceremony was held at Baghdad International Airport, and the ceremony included playing the national anthems of each country, and a review of the honor guard representing the various branches of our armed forces." The statement added that "the Prime Minister will hold extensive talks with the Iranian President, who is accompanied on the visit by an expanded delegation of Iranian government ministers, which will focus on developments in the region and the events in Gaza, in addition to discussing strengthening economic, security and trade cooperation files, and partnership in a number of development sectors." He added, "The two sides will sponsor the signing ceremony of a package of memoranda of understanding in the field of tax cooperation, and in the fields of agriculture, natural resources, communications, social protection, youth and sports, education, tourism, cultural and artistic exchange, cooperation in the field of antiquities, as well as in the field of vocational training, development of skilled manpower, and cooperation between chambers of commerce."
